Hi! I’m Stephanie….a physiotherapist, yoga teacher, mother, wife, sister and friend trying to keep my head above water while I take care of my family, myself and feel joy everyday.
I’ve always been an active person and in my professional life, I studied how the human body works. I love anatomy, the human body is amazing and I still crave to learn new things. I started my academic career at St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, followed by a Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Western Ontario. I’ve worked as a physiotherapist for 14 years in a variety of areas including private physiotherapy clinics, homecare physiotherapy with a more elderly population, in an ICU and most recently as a Wellness Facilitator in health promotion. All very interesting and incredibly rewarding.
I started doing yoga over 10 years ago and tried many styles. One teacher and style that pushed my practice to a new level and my desire to study yoga was with an Iyengar trained yoga teacher. I will forever be grateful to her for showing me a side of yoga that resonated with my personal and professional life. She taught me how to break down poses into pieces, the importance of props, all with a focus on alignment. Thank you Heather Dooley.
After I completed my Yoga Teacher Training at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio, I knew my physio and yoga world would intersect. The combination of my professional background and yoga training make it natural fit to offer both group and individual yoga instruction with an emphasis on mobility, strength, safety, alignment and overall wellness. I truly believe yoga is for everyone and a version of every pose can be found for every body. I enjoy working with students who have an interest in getting the physical, emotional and mental benefits of yoga to improve their health, in particular those living with a chronic condition, dealing with a injury or new to yoga.
